Certification

Phlebotomy Career Training Academy, LLC offers a national certification examination through National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) on the day of enrollment. The students will be registered two weeks prior to the scheduled exam date. The student must complete all hours of school work and tests before sitting for the national exam. National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) does not report the results to the state for licensing. Upon completion of the student national exam, the student will receive their results.  The student must pass the national exam with a score of 70% or higher to receive his or her certification, which will be mailed to the student.

Once nationally certified, the student may work anywhere within the United States. The student is responsible for keeping up his or her certification by Continuing Education Unit (CEUs) hours. National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) will notify the student by mail of how many CEU hours are required per year.

Phlebotomy Career Training Academy, LLC does not offer a Louisiana state license for Phlebotomy Technician or EKG Technician. National certification for EKG is not required for the state of Louisiana, as of now, but may be required in the near future.

If a student chooses to receive a Phlebotomy Technician state license from Louisiana, he or she may apply on the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners website at www.lsbme.la.gov

Louisiana and California are the only two states that require a phlebotomist to take a state-approved course to practice as a phlebotomist.
